|   When to Outsource Your Internet Business
|
There is a problem which you may hopefully encounter one day in your career as an internet marketer. This problem is a great problem to have and is actually quite common. It is something that anyone who has experienced a large degree of success in the online business world will have been through. This great problem occurs all of a sudden on that great day when you suddenly realize that the little internet business you started from your bedroom/office, has seemingly morphed into a huge enterprise!
Now, it is no longer just you, with your one-man eBay store, for example, but you have a fully developed online shop run by a team of full-time salespeople, logistics, and customer service personnel. You business comprises website development, product creation, marketing, sales, tracking, payment processing, order fulfillment, customer retention, customer service, affiliate marketing and so on.
Unless you enjoy working a 60 hour week, (and let's face it, the reason you probably started your online business was to give yourself some more time and freedom), then you should consider outsourcing the non-core elements of your business. You do this because there comes a point when you must concentrate on the vital elements of your business: Marketing, Sales and looking after your Customers. There will be plenty of other distractions in the business which will try to keep you from these core elements but you must find a way of not having to get bogged down in them. Outsourcing is one way of achieving this.
For example, outsource those jobs which need doing but which are repetitive and mundane, such as answering emails, tracking stock levels, sales figures, and so on. Make sure of course, that care and attention to detail are given to ensure you choose the right people to outsource your tasks to whilst still maintaining a working environment conducive to high productivity and effectiveness.
This ensures that while you hand some of your responsibilities to other people, they have the least chances of messing up because the jobs they are handed are simple and straightforward. On the other hand, do not let just anybody make critical or strategic decisions about the future or direction of your business unless you want to lose it overnight!
Some people you will need to hire and pay a wage to for jobs like book-keeping, some jobs though can also be accomplished by outsourcing to freelancers. For examples, you can get ghostwriters to write good content for your website and you can get freelance designers to pep up your merchant site. You do not need to hire these people on a regular wage because once their job is done, they do not have much follow up work to do for your business. A good resource for freelancers would be www.elance.com and www.rentacoder.com, where freelancers and buyers have transactions on a per job basis.
When your business gets to a certain level, it can actually be more cost effective to pay people to do certain tasks that up to know you have done. Do not be a busy fool and try and do everything yourself. If you try and control every element of your business you will eventually fail or end up frazzled to a cinder! Take the steps necessary to outsource non-critical elements of the business so that you concentrate on what you are best at! Do this, and you will be happier, more relaxed and wealthier!
